Steve Kirvan, Owner/Instructor
Steve started teaching for Fred Astaire Dance Studios (FADS) in Durham, NC in 1992. After completing a six week training class, he has never looked back and has now been teaching ballroom dancing for over 25 years. He competed professionally with FADS for 7 years in both the Rhythm and Smooth Styles; placing within the top 6 to 10 in the Southeastern region and receiving several Top Teacher Awards. Steve moved to Virginia in 2001 to teach for FADS of Virginia Beach. Steve taught independently at several studios in the Hampton Roads area from 2004 to 2008. In September of 2008, Steve opened 7 Cities Ballroom Dance Studio in Williamsburg, VA.
Most recently, Steve trained and competed professionally in American Smooth; traveling to many professional competitions on the East Coast and training with many great instructors and coaches. Steve also competes pro/am with his students throughout the year.
Steve is certified at the Silver Level and a member of the National Dance Council of America (NDCA).
Jennifer Kirvan, Owner
Jennifer, a native of Williamsburg, learned of her love for dance after meeting and marrying Steve in 2005. Jennifer takes care of most of the behind the scenes responsibilities at 7 Cities Ballroom such as: marketing, web site administration and bookkeeping. Occasionally she helps with group class instruction, but spends most evenings being the personal chauffer for their 14 year old son, Jackson. By day, Jennifer is a Data Analyst, crunching numbers for a local community bank.

Our Studio
7 Cities Ballroom was founded by owner/instructor Steve Kirvan in fall of 2007, when he began teaching independently at several locations in the Hampton Roads area. After renting floor space and traveling to the different studios from Va Beach to Williamsburg, Steve and his wife, Jennifer, decided it was time to plant roots in the Williamsburg area with a studio of their own. 7 Cities Ballroom's first location was in the Lightfoot area and for 3 years, this was the studio's home. After outgrowing the space in Lightfoot, 7 Cities Ballroom moved to it's now bigger and better space in the Williamsburg Crossing Shopping Center. See below, for more about Steve, Jennifer and their awesome instructors!
What does it mean?? "7 Cities" refers to the Hampton Roads region of VA, more specifically, the 7 major cities that make up that region. Although Williamsburg is not one of the major cities, it is included in the 9 Virginia cities, 5 Virginia counties and 2 North Carolina counties that make up Hampton Roads.
